Lovely articles brother but you don't comment. I like you quite alot but something as powerful as what you have posted deserves a response. Bring me your thoughts for mine are filled with pain and terror. Glass is the world and it has been shattered. I have many books to bring to you when I next visit your home. Soft power is a new term to my lexicon of life. Sounds so wrong for power is blood and steel. Love you mate. Next time say what you mean or sit in the sideline with the rest of the panty waist whiners. I can still crack your skull as you did me if you need some inspiration.

this is a huge issue in this country, and one which seems to be consistently swept away as not worthy of a serious look.

my friends in canada and england actually report good things with regard to their nationalized health programs. i expect that american ingenuity could improve upon what's seemingly working there, but the insurance company lobbyists will do all they can to prevent that.

we pay $720 a month for basic health coverage. my husband pays another $100+ for medicare and some unknown amount for the disastrous Part D coverage. prescription costs run $800-900 per month even with insurance. i don't know how most folks can manage and i suspect they're just crossing fingers and hoping nothing disastrous happens.

this needs to be a priority in this country. is anyone listening? i don't think so.

all I can say is that this is terrifying. our country has been hijacked by these thugs in the bush administration. it's as if we're headed down a steep winding mountain road with no breaks and bush at the wheel. all us poor folks screaming in the back seat, powerless to stop the runaway and incapable of preventing the crash.

bush and the neocons scoff at diplomacy. i fear it will take decades to repair the damage done by this crew.

I was thinking about something this morning on the ride into work, and that is -- I seem much more obsessed (wait, that's judgmental ... let's instead say "focused") on how I and my generation will be remembered by history. For whatever reasons, I am secure in my belief that George W. Bush will be remembered as nothing more than a colossal nincompoop, and that belief gives me comfort. I hope that history records how despised he was by most people in the U.S. -- my fear is that we'll be remembered as the citizenry who voted him into office. Twice.

I hope that's not my legacy.

Wow! That gave me chills. I am such a reactionary, I was enormously impressed by Dr. Gilligan's matter-of-fact way of simply stating that Dobson lied about, twisted, and used her work to justify his position of hate. I'd have been screaming. Kudos to her for her calm and especially for speaking up. We all have to speak up against the liars.

Comment on Global Warning: Arctic Faces Meltdown by Christopher

The arctic ice shelf contains most of the world's drinking water. If it melts by 2040 or 2050 as predicted, then what?

Consequences are many:

1.) the reflective quality of the artic bounces harmful radiation from the sun back into space where it can't hurt human and other life

2.) drinking water will become more scarce and more valuable

Our future may be one where the most coveted commodity on earth isn't gold, or diamonds, or oil, but water.

Maybe this is why the Bush family has acquired 100,000 acres in remote Paraguay over the largest fresh water aquifer in South America?
